The force has already scaled Mt Everest and traversed the entire length of the River Ganga rafting as part of the celebrations.
“We have already enlisted 150 schools who will participate in the marathon apart from film stars such as John Abraham and Ritesh Deshmukh. We are also in talks with several top sportspersons, cricketers, literary figures, artists and MPs for their participation.Obviously our appeal is to the general public to participate in as great numbers as possible to support and encourage the force that guards India’s borders in the most hostile terrains,” said an ITBP official.
Titled “ITBP-Run For The Nation”, the ITBP half marathon will start from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 7 am and come back to the venue traversing 21 km via India Gate and Janpath. The stadium has already been booked by the force for the event and requisite traffic clearance obtained from Delhi police.
