An eight-member delegation led by the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr. Mokgwetsi Masisi, Botswana today called on the Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Culture, Kumari Selja. During their half-an-hour meeting, both the sides discussed the common areas of interest such as slum upgrading, affordable housing, skill development and monitoring of training programmes for the beneficiaries through biometrics tracking system, community involvement in government programmes etc. It was agreed that the two countries will actively collaborate and share their experiences in the field of human settlements.
The Botswana delegation was in India on a week-long visit till 23rd June 2012 to bench-mark India’s best practices on poverty eradication. The other members of the delegation were, Keletso Joseph Rakhudu, Assistant Minister of Education & Skills Development, Botlogile Tshireletso, Assistant Minister of Local Government, Mr. Samuel O. Rathedi, Coordinator Remote Area Development Programme – Ministry of Local Government, Dr. John Mothibi, Permanent Secretary Office of the President: Poverty Eradication, Dr. Jeffress Fredrick Ramsay, Deputy Permanent Secretary Office of the President: Government Communications, Dr. Raphael Dingalo, Director Office of the President, Ms. Lesego Ethel Motsumi, High Commissioner of Botswana to India and Mr. Oarabile Pako Nkwe, First Secretary – Botswana High Commission. The delegation is also scheduled to visit Hyderabad and Mumbai.
